Note to Ben

Where did you go?

After a semi-long week and a semi-long day, I sat down at my computer, ready to enjoy your latest post (and maybe some older ones, too) and they were gone!

Hope to see you back soon.

Thanks,H.
I was suddenly overtaken by a hot-flush of self-awareness, a realization that only a self-absorbed narcissist would conclude that his opinion of the state of the world, or his version of life's travails, would be anything but a hackneyed rehash of everybody else's.

Reading "It Gets Worse" only makes this feeling get worse.
You are my hero, H.

Well, first of all, self awareness is not all it's cracked up to be. Your description above seems more fitting for me than it does for you - which is why I try not to be too aware - of almost anything.

Secondly, if reading my drivel makes you feel worse (which is understandable!), then by all means, stop reading and keep writing.

I often wonder why I'm bothering to write most of what I do. At very few times, there are specific reasons (which I won't get into here) but sometimes, most of the time, there is no good reason at all.

How many times do people want to read about my morning commute or yet another post about Sam and I baking banana bread? Compare these to the beautiful post you wrote about the wonderful women in your life - and the things that matter and that last.

Anyway, I won't strong arm you into reconsidering - yet!(mostly because my arms aren't strong) but I hope you lose that self awareness and get back to it. I may not make it there every day and may not comment on all of them, but they make a difference - and they are as unique as you are.

P.S. Once you do return(hopefully,) I have a request - I would love to see you post a photo of your view, taken from under the tree that you and Jack sit under. I'll look forward to it.

Now, it's off to bed for me...

Your "drivel" makes me feel optimistic for the future of mankind, which is not usually my fall-back position. All will end well with people like you in the world.

It is important for us all to remember that the few arseholes that attract our attention like black holes in space (hi Donald) are egregious outliers, not exemplars.

And if no one else on the planet reads my drivel but you, I am content.
Consider RotMA unshafted.

(Bit of a posting hiatus coming up... my beautiful wife and I are off to Melbourne tomorrow to see three of our five beautiful daughters. I will get a photo of Jack's View when we return.)

It's probably too late to catch you, but I hope you have a great visit.
