Evening Drive

Continuing with my habit of posting photos for no particular reason, here's a photo taken from one of Sam and my recent drives through town...

Last of These for a While...

 ...probably.

Here are a few (last?) photos taken on our walk at the far side of the canal late yesterday afternoon.

In a few short weeks we'll be turning the clocks back. That means the afternoon light will likely be gone by the time Sam and I get out for our walks. And not long after that - winter.

We're trying to enjoy it while we can...

The Walk Back

Here are a few random photos taken on my walk back from the tower down to my car...

Happy Endings

I spent the better part of the morning at the tower, alone, watching the morning fog as it burned away with the rising sun. And I waited.

I had just dropped Sam off at the local theater with one of his special needs support groups. They would be watching a movie "with accommodations". These "accommodations" included things like, only dimming the lights (as opposed to shutting them off entirely) and allowing people to talk and walk around throughout the movie.

I had no problem with him seeing the movie. It was a movie Sam had been strongly 'hinting' that he would like to see (Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile), but I was a little concerned about the accommodations.

Sam is a rule follower and he can have a tough time when he thinks others aren't following what the rules are supposed to be - and these accommodations break those typical, well-established rules.

In the days leading up to this, we did a lot of talking (relatively speaking) about how and why these things would be ok at this setting and how this would be more like seeing a movie at school - even though it was at the theater. And, as always, we talked about how, even though I was sure he would have a good time, if there were any problems, how he could get in touch with me and I would be there.

So I dropped Sam off with his group, getting him (and the group leader) "acclimated" before I left - and I headed about a mile away, to the tower, and I watched as the sun rose over the hills and slowly burned away the morning fog.

---

I'm happy to say that things went well. When I picked Sam up, he told me, first and foremost, the movie had a happy ending.

Everything else was secondary.

Today's Photos

Here, without comment, are a few select photos, taken today, while on a walk with Rachael and Sam, at the "far side of the canal"...

Sunbathing

On today's walk at the college, Sam and I, as usual, first swung by the small pond out front. Turns out, the biology department had placed a few "humane" traps in the pond, along with a sign on the fence asking people not to disturb the traps, that the traps were there to capture and study reptiles and amphibians which would then be released back into the pond afterwards.

I have no idea how successful this was. The only wildlife we saw were a couple of turtles sitting on top of the traps, sunning themselves.
