Sam is excellent about spotting coins - even without his metal detector. Today on our walk, he hit the mother-lode - nearly twenty-five cents - all in pennies!

A Vacation Day

Sam's been on vacation this week and even though I work from home, I always feel kind of bad that I can't do more with him on these vacation weeks .

Sure, we go for long walks together - pretty much every day - but vacations should be special.

Still, I managed to take today off so we could spend the entire day together. We went to the park where we have our annual family get-togethers and walked the entire park, including seeing the animals. Then I took him out to lunch and after, we headed over to the comic book store. After the comic book we went down the street and I got him some ice cream. 

It wasn't exactly going to the beach or Disney World or anything, but he had a really good time. And so did I.

Helping Hand

Our rainy-day walks would go a lot faster if we didn't insist on moving every worm off of the sidewalk and onto the grass.

What am I Missing?

There was a beautiful sunset tonight. I snapped this photo, looking down the end of our street...

I had hoped to drive to the field at the edge of town in time to take more photos. But sunsets fade fast - especially when you're stuck behind some slowpoke who has no idea where they're going. 

Still, it was pretty even if it was less dramatic...
