The (hopefully) unusual autumn heat not only got to us, but it also got to our carved pumpkins. With each passing day, the pumpkins became softer and softer, finally collapsing in on themselves until they were little more than juicy, bug-infested blobs. They were so disgusting even the squirrels weren't eating them.
Not to be deterred, Sam and I bombed out to the store, raced home, and Sam carved a new one - all with only a day to spare!.

I guess when it comes right down to it, pretty much everywhere Sam and I walk is 'one of my favorite spots'.
Sam and I didn't make many walks at Temple Woods this year. With all the rain and humidity and the often high temperatures, it always seemed to be too buggy. It's kind of a shame because, a) its a lovely area and b) it can be quite a workout (for me, at least).
We did manage to squeeze in a walk today, though. One of only three or four this year.
Hopefully next year will be more cooperative.
Along with the apple picking anf the pie (still not pictured) and the lovely afternoon stroll, we somehow managed to find the time to carve pumpkins!
Amazingly, I seem to have neglected to take any photos of the actual carving process(!). I will, however, present these...
Think the birthday festivities ended with apple picking and pie (pie not pictured)? Wrong! We also went on a lovely stroll along one of my favorite strolling areas.

Oh, there are a few I kept because I liked the artist or the book held sentimental value - or more than likely, some amount of both. But I have far more than a few sentimental keepsakes.
This one doesn't ring a bell. I can safely say that however many years I've had it, I've never opened it - until today.
Turns out, there were several black and white, 8x10's of Dad inside.
If it were a few days earlier, I would say this was somehow connected to Dad's birthday - his birthday being on October 2nd and all.
And if it were a few days later, I would say it was somehow connected to my birthday.
Or, more than likely, it was nothing more than one of those multitudes of meaningless coincidences that fill any arbitrary day.
But for now, I think I'll pretend it had something to do with my birthday.
